Guinness world recorder for the world’s oldest person living male Chitetsu Watanabe passed away at the age of 112 in Japan. He was officially confirmed by the Guinness World Record as the oldest living man on February 12 this year. He died on Sunday, February 23.
Watanabe was admitted to a nursing home in Niigata after he reported difficulty in breathing. He had developed a fever and had eating problems.
Watanabe has five children, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Born in 1907, his secret of his longevity is smiling.
Watanabe grew fruits and vegetables on a family farm. He also nurtured bonsai, japan’s traditional art form. Watanabe served in the military toward the end of the Pacific War in 1944.
However, no cause for his death has come out, doctors call it natural and due to old age. The oldest living person, Kane Tanaka, also lives in Japan and celebrated her 117th birthday in January.
