YS Sharmila Criticizes YSRCP Government Over Unfulfilled Job Promises
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y S Sharmila lambasted the YSRCP administration, accusing it of failing to meet its pre-election pledge to fill 2.3 lakh government vacancies and release an annual job calendar. Sharmila highlighted the government's failure to honor its commitment to aspiring teachers, noting that while 23,000 teaching positions were promised, only 6,000 were advertised.
Addressing the media at Andhra Ratna Bhavan after staging a sit-in protest, Sharmila recalled the employment initiatives under Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's tenure, which saw the filling of 52,000 government jobs. She criticized the YSRCP for disregarding the plight of unemployed youth, particularly the short notice provided to DSC aspirants for the 6,000 teaching posts.
Sharmila dubbed the government's DSC notification as 'Daga DSC,' alleging that it favored outsourcing and contract jobs over permanent positions. She condemned the government's failure to deliver on promises and questioned the fate of unemployed youth amidst political appointments.
Moreover, Sharmila criticized the BJP's unfulfilled job promises and cautioned against alliances with the party. She censured the YSRCP for its failure to secure Special Category Status, funding for the Polavaram project, and developmental grants for the state, citing a prevailing atmosphere of unrest and heavy police presence near Congress offices.
She strongly condemned the house arrests of Congress leaders and their prevention from attending party events, urging citizens to reject alliances with parties failing to prioritize public welfare.
