You Will Be Promoted Faster If You Smoke With Your Boss

According to a recent survey carried on by the National Bureau of Economic Research on Monday, the employees who smoke with their seniors are more likely to get promoted. The study also showed that male employees who have male managers get a promotion faster, as compared to female employees who have the same promotion rate regardless of the gender of their boss.

 

In earlier studies, it showed that the individuals working under white-male leaders do better than the rest of the groups. It’s kind of similar mind strategy that tells that people with similar minds, common motive, and same opinions benefit more.

 

Zoe Cullen of Harvard Business School researchers and people with the common motive at Ricardo Perez-Truglia of the UCLA Anderson School of Management analyzed the data and studied the effect of manager rotation and controlling for differences in effort and output.
