KCR with no cabinet -Breaks NTR's record
TRS (Telangana Rastra Samiti ) won the recent Assembly polls with a majority winning 88 seats of 119 on December 12. KCR took oath as CM for the second time on December 13 along with home minister Mahmood Ali.
It has been almost 30 days since then and KCR has been running the government without any cabinet minister. KCR is known for creating records and this time by running the government alone he has broken the record of his guru NTR.
The old record of late N. T. Rama Rao, the first non-Congress Chief Minister of the combined State of Andhra Pradesh was that had functioned alone for 17 days after he dismissed his entire 31-member Cabinet in 1989 taking a strong exception to the leakage of budget proposals to the Press before it was presented in the Legislative Assembly. A new 23-member team was brought in subsequently by NTR after 17 days.
There has been a lot of questions raised on to the reasons why the cabinet ministers were not yet appointed with many speculating that KCR wants to be a dictator while others calling KCR religious stating that he might be waiting for some auspicious day to form the cabinet.
Nevertheless, the Chief Minister has been pretty active as he has been holding continuous meetings with officials on Irrigation, Agriculture, Haritha Haram (plantation drive to improve forest cover) and holding deliberations over the implementation of electoral promises. He is regularly reviewing the performance of important departments and keeping a tab on officers. He visited his dream project Kaleswaram and instructed the officials to complete it fast.
Although there is no cabinet at present it seems that there has been no major impact on the administration. However many seem to be unhappy as the electoral promises made are yet to be kept and may get delayed due to delay in decision making.
