Peddi Star Jagapathi Babu Thanks Critics for ‘Bad Reviews’ Amid Film’s Success
Actor Jagapathi Babu has responded to the criticism surrounding Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s sports drama Peddi, thanking even those who gave the film negative reviews. Speaking at a post-release “thank you meet” in Hyderabad, the veteran actor addressed the backlash that emerged over the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor’s character while celebrating the film’s commercial success.
During his speech, Jagapathi Babu described Peddi as a story of struggle and victory, comparing the film’s journey to a challenging game that required winning twice—once on screen and once in the real world. He acknowledged that the team faced criticism after release but said the audience ultimately decides a film’s fate. According to him, the people who spend money to watch a movie have the final say, not online debates or reviews.
The actor praised director Buchi Babu Sana for bringing an unconventional story to the screen and credited Ram Charan’s commitment for helping the film succeed. He referred to the star as both “Superman” and “He-Man,” highlighting his dedication to the project.
In a remark that drew attention, Jagapathi Babu thanked those who wrote negative reviews, saying their criticism unintentionally helped generate discussion around the film. He suggested that the controversy may have increased public curiosity and encouraged more people to watch the movie.
Despite receiving criticism for its treatment of Janhvi Kapoor’s character, Peddi has emerged as a major box-office success, crossing ₹150 crore worldwide. The film features a strong ensemble cast including Shiva Rajkumar, Ravi Kishan, Boman Irani, Divyenndu, and Jagapathi Babu. While reactions from critics have been mixed, the film continues to attract audiences and is now aiming to surpass the ₹200 crore milestone.
