Congress Faces Issues Related Selecting New Leader
With defeat in the past Lok Sabha elections, Congress party president Rahul Gandhi has announced to resign from his post. Right after his decision, Congress party senior leaders have been trying to convince him to continue with his position in the party.
No official statement related to the withdrawal of his decision has been yet made by the party leaders. The suspense still remains as it is not clear about the Decision made by Rahul Gandhi.
Sources have added that in case the decision is not taken back, then it is certain that the Party may have to consider electing a new leader to lead the party. With this in mind, the party is taking all necessary actions that need to be taken.
Recently rumors have also been circulating in media that party may consider appointing one of the senior leaders for the post, from within the party. This will be done with an aim to offer a party with Interim President. The role of this leader will be to collect votes from other party leaders to help make effective decisions.
It is also expected that the party might consider appointing A. K. Antony as new party chief. He will also be responsible to take all vital decisions related to party agenda on account of defeat faced in past elections.
Sources have also stated that till date no such official progress has been made by party leaders in this regards. As per senior leaders, they still feel that not much of measures will be affected on account of this decision by senior leaders. Within the next few days, the party is most likely to announce their major decision regarding this matter.
