EVMs & VVPAT In Hotel – Bihar
The Seven phase Lok Sabha election 2019 is going on getting more and more controversial and interesting. While the fifth phase of election is going on in Bihar, the machines needed for the elections like EVMs and VVPATs were found in a hotel at Muzaffarpur, Bihar yesterday.
District Magistrate (DM) Muzaffarpur Alok Rajan Ghosh, was given some reserved machines which could be replaced with the faulty ones, the work was going on as he replaced EVMs and was left with two balloting units, one control unit and two units of VVPATs which were taken in hotel for that night after the work was over.
However, the fault of Alok Rajan Ghosh was that he should not have unloaded the machines in a hotel room as it is against the rules, taking in consideration of ongoing elections. The machines are the properties and responsibilities of election commission hence the departmental investigation will be done.
The EVMs are electronic voting machines and the VVPATs are Voter-verifiable paper audit trail. These both are used for casting the votes at ongoing elections.
