Farmers Protest In Amaravati

CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy has made a key statement in the assembly that AP will have 3 capitals with Amaravati as legislation capital, Visakhapatnam as executive capital and Kurnool as Judicial capital. These comments caused concern among the farmers of the Amaravati region and have evoked a massive protest in Amaravati.

They came out on the roads and issued protests and dharnas. The bandh was being held on Thursday in 29 villages. Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan has once again responded to the agitation of farmers in Amaravati. Pawan has appointed a committee to look into the situation in Amaravati on behalf of the party. Shri Nadendla Manohar, Chairman of the Janasena Political Affairs Committee, has been advised to look into the situation.

Members of the Political Affairs Committee headed by Nadendla announced that they would visit the capital villages on the 20th of this month. The group knows of the panic among farmers who have given land for the capital. He said the group will discuss with farmers what action should be followed until an expert committee report on the capital arrives.

Meanwhile, a farmer named Rama Rao has filed a petition in the High Court against AP. The petitioner had demanded that the GN Rao Committee should be canceled. The High Court is due to take up the matter today.
