LPG Cylinder Subsidy Promise Creates Confusion in Telangana
The Congress party's promise of providing subsidized LPG cylinders at Rs. 500 in Telangana, made during the election campaign, has yet to materialize. Nearly 20 days into the party's governance, there has been no official announcement on the subsidization of gas cylinders. Meanwhile, rumors have circulated regarding the eligibility criteria, leading to confusion among consumers.
Confusion Regarding Gas Subsidies: Despite the absence of an official statement, there has been a surge in people visiting gas agencies to update their KYC details. Speculations suggest that gas subsidies may only be granted to customers with updated KYC information. However, the president of the Hyderabad Gas Dealers Association, Ashok Kumar, clarified that no instructions regarding a gas subsidy policy had been received from the State government.
KYC Update Unrelated to Subsidy: Ashok Kumar further clarified that the KYC updates were initiated in November based on directives from the Central government and were unrelated to any subsidy scheme introduced by the State government. He dismissed claims that only individuals with updated KYC details would be eligible for subsidized gas, dispelling confusion among consumers.
The lack of a clear announcement on LPG cylinder subsidies in Telangana has led to uncertainty among the public. As citizens await official communication from the government, the president of the Hyderabad Gas Dealers Association has clarified that the ongoing KYC updates are unrelated to any state-level subsidy scheme.
