Telangana Deputy CM Discusses State Budget Proposals Amid Financial Concerns
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka expressed concerns over the burdened state finances during discussions on the proposals for the 2014-15 annual budget prepared by the Pava Farala Department. The meeting, held on Saturday, was attended by Minister Chitram Kumar Reddy, DS Chauhan (Finance Joint Secretary), and other officials.
During the gathering, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted the neglect of civil affairs by the previous government, which resulted in a staggering backlog of arrears, now totaling 16400 crores. He emphasized that loans were taken to procure grains from farmers and that government bank guarantees were essential in such transactions. Vikramarka urged officials to ensure justice for all citizens, even in the face of challenges.
Mudra Unandumar Reddy of the State Civil Supplies Department echoed concerns about the department's weakening under the previous administration. He noted that significant projects worth 11,000 crores were not handed over to the GST Board by the current government.
While Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka expressed his commitment to transparency and accountability in government finances, he stressed the need for clear communication with the public regarding the state's debt situation. The meeting also discussed the Kaleshwaram project and future allocations in conjunction with Chief Minister KCR.
The discussions shed light on the financial challenges faced by Telangana and underscored the importance of effective financial management in the state's budgetary planning.
