Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Get A Change Of Allocation In River Water By Krishna River Authority Board
The Krishna River Authority Board has decided to allocate 29 TMCs to Telangana and 17.50 TMCs to Andhra Pradesh of Krishna Water. On Thursday, member of the Board of In-charge in Hyderabad, RK Jain, Member Secretary Harikesh Meena, Telangana ENC Muralidhar, and AP ENC Venkateswara Rao were convened.
Waters from Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar, were the prime things discussed the water available to the drinkers and decided to take water from the bottom of the water storage capacity (Dead Storage).
As on 11th of this month, 46.98 TMCs are available at 827.40 feet in Srisailam. The Authority has decided to take 18 TMCs from the bottom of the 800 feet below the reservoir and will have 28.97 TMCs in the project. Nagarjuna Sagar has a total water area of 524.2 feet and 157.05 TMCs. The reservoir will use 33.71 TMC’s from the 505 feet and another 123.33 TMC’s will be stored. Overall, 51.71 TMC’s of the two reservoirs are available for use in water.
8.5 TMCs were allotted to Telangana up to August till the need for Mission Bhageeratha from Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar reservoirs. 9 TMCs have been allocated under the left canal for the last mounds of yacht crops under Sagar. Hyderabad has allocated drinking water requirements until August.
Two states must try to ensure that water level will be at least 510 feet in Sagar and is to be maintained. To coordinate the water release of Paleru reservoir (Telangana) at the time of the release of water through the left channel of AP. After releasing electricity from Sagar can be utilized to release water. Genco can release water from the gates if there is no electricity demand. Krishna Delta needs to be released from Friday to ten thousand cusecs per day.
