Telangana seeks $150 billion electronics manufacturing economy as Shenzhen of India.
The state of Telangana has identified electronics manufacturing as a focus area and aspires to become the Shenzhen of India, according to KT Rama Rao, minister of information technology and industries. Foxconn Interconnect Technology (FIT) is investing $500 million to set up an electronic manufacturing unit here.
Aiming to create a 1.5 million workforce and a 150 billion dollar economy just in electronics manufacturing in the next 10 years, Rama Rao stated that Telangana would do in 20 years what China did in 30 years to help Shenzhen become the global centre for technology, research, manufacturing, etc., and that it would increase its per capita income six times to reach $20,000 per capita by 2040.
