The BCs of Telangana received a big jolt from KCR
The Backward Castes of Telangana received an enormous jolt from KCR shortly after he assumed office for the second term.
The TRS government brought in an ordinance to scale back BC quota in panchayat raj elections from 34 % to 23 %.
Although the Supreme judicial writ that overall reservations shouldn't exceed 50 % was being cited for reducing BC quota, there were many legal options that KCR might have pursued to make sure 34 % quota for BCs.
However, KCR didn't value more highly to explore any of the legal options to retain the 34 % quota given to BCs by the previous Congress government in Undivided AP in 2013. In Undivided AP, the quota was 60 %.
While BCs are already demanding 52 % reservations in proportion to their population, KCR on the opposite hand has not even bothered to retain even the present 34 % quota however additional brought it all the way down to 23 %.
Naturally, the bc associations are angry with KCR for ditching them instantly once the Assembly elections by bringing in an ordinance in a hurry to cut reservations without convening Assembly session to debate the problem and come out with the simplest way to bypass the Supreme Court orders.
They are currently going to hold agitations altogether districts and expose KCR on how he has cheated BCs after securing power for a second term.
