According to a Savills study, Hyderabad is emerging as India's economic powerhouse.
Telangana has become the fastest-growing state in India, and its capital, Hyderabad, is one of the most dynamic cities in the world. On Sunday, the London-based international property consultant Savills released a report called "Hyderabad: The Sprint," which says that Hyderabad is becoming India's economic powerhouse.
The report from Savills, which works in 70 countries, shows how the economy of Hyderabad has grown since Telangana became a separate state and the main reasons for this growth.
A team from Savills in London gives KT Rama Rao a report on Hyderabad.
On Sunday, the report was given to IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao by a Savills team led by Christian Mancini, CEO of Savills (APAC), Anurag Mathur, CEO of Savills (India), and others.
Hyderabad is now the most-wanted gateway city for global companies in all fields. It offers unbeatable value regarding infrastructure, policy support, quality real estate, and how easy it is to live there. Telangana is at the front of the pack regarding finding growth sectors and making policies that help attract new businesses. This report by Savills shows that the Telangana government is working on the right growth drivers and new industries," he said.
The report says that much of Hyderabad's economic success has been due to four key factors: Policy Push, Infrastructure, Affordability, and Human Capital. A fifth factor, Sectoral Focus, works quickly to keep momentum.
On Policy Push, the report says that proactive government policies have driven the growth of Hyderabad. Policies that are good for investors, like the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Policy 2.0, have helped MNCs grow a lot in Hyderabad. The new IT policy focuses on giving people more control over their digital lives, encouraging innovation, and encouraging people to start their businesses. It has a Start-up Telangana portal that is meant to be a one-stop shop for the State's start-up ecosystem.
The report also says that, compared to other big cities in the country, Hyderabad's economy has grown faster than most, especially at the end of the last decade. IT-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) and pharmaceuticals are the main industries driving growth.
In 2021, about 14% of the city's GDP came from the IT sector. Hyderabad's success is also shown by the fact that it is a major center for pharmaceuticals and vaccines in the country. Nearly 40% of the bulk drugs in the country are in Hyderabad. The Savills report says that this speeding up the economy has allowed several industries, like infrastructure and real estate, to grow.
