Andhra Pradesh Seeks ₹6,762 Crore Boost for School Infrastructure.
In a recent meeting with Union Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, Andhra Pradesh's Lokesh appealed to the Central Government for ₹6,762 crore to enhance the state's school infrastructure. The request, made during discussions in New Delhi, focused on urgent repairs and new classroom constructions to improve the educational environment across the state.
Lokesh outlined the need for ₹4,141 crore to repair existing facilities, including classrooms, toilets, and drinking water systems, in 32,818 schools. He also called for an additional ₹2,621 crore to build 7,579 new classrooms to accommodate growing student needs.
Beyond the funding requests, Lokesh pushed for including 1,514 schools under the third phase of the PM SHRI Scheme. He highlighted the state's effective implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, noting that although 2,369 schools were proposed, only 855 have been approved in the scheme's first two phases. He urged swift action to ensure quality education reaches underprivileged students nationwide.
