Andhra Pradesh to Launch India's First Skill Census Initiative for Youth Employment
Andhra Pradesh is set to pioneer India's first-ever Skill Census initiative, aimed at identifying and enhancing the skills of the state's youth to improve their employment prospects. Education Minister Nara Lokesh announced the initiative during a high-level review meeting with Skill Development officials on Thursday, emphasizing the state government's commitment to empowering young people.
The Skill Census will be piloted in one constituency before expanding across the state. The primary objectives include:
Gathering detailed information on youth skills.
Promoting targeted skill development.
Providing job opportunities.
Ultimately, this will improve the economic conditions of the youth.
Minister Lokesh highlighted the potential of incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the program's outcomes. He underscored the crucial role of training enumerators and raising awareness among the youth, making them integral to the initiative's success.
As part of the Skill Census, the government will identify youth interested in various sectors, offer specialized training, and issue certifications in collaboration with reputed organizations. These certifications are expected to significantly boost job prospects within Andhra Pradesh, on platforms like Naukri.com and LinkedIn, and even in other states and countries.
The minister also recommended that students studying outside the state or abroad register their details online. The ultimate goal of the Skill Census is to digitize the skills of Andhra Pradesh's youth and open up better opportunities for them.
The meeting concluded with a decision to finalize the operational procedures in an upcoming session, chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Prominent officials, including it and Electronics Secretary Saurabh Gaur, Skill Development MD G Ganesh Kumar, NACK ADG Dinesh Kumar, CDAP CEO Srinivasulu, and OmCap MD Kranti attended the session.
