CEC Cracks Down on Fake Votes in Andhra Pradesh
The Central Election Commission (CEC) is angry over the prevalence of fake votes and other irregularities in Andhra Pradesh. The CEC summoned the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Mukesh Kumar Meena, to Delhi on Tuesday to discuss the issue.
During the meeting, the CEC raised concerns about unusual additions and subtractions of votes, as well as other factors. The CEC stressed eliminating any room for suspicion and manipulation in the upcoming elections.
In response to the CEC's concerns, Meena has been instructed to meet with political parties on the 20th of this month. The meeting will aim to address issues such as the addition of new voters and the removal of deceased individuals from the voter list. The Commission has also decided to identify those responsible for irregularities in the voter list and take appropriate action.
The CEC has also ordered actions against officers and police personnel involved in irregularities during the MLC elections. As a result, Meena has scheduled a meeting with the District Collectors in Visakhapatnam on the 2nd and 3rd of August.
The CEC's anger over the issue of fake votes is a clear indication that the Commission is taking the issue very seriously.
