CM KCR Sanctions Rs 2,500 Crore For Roads.

Roads and Buildings department officials now gear up to execute and complete the road repair works in rural areas of the State by summer after CM KCR sanctioned Rs 2,500 crore for road repair works.
Roads and Buildings Minister V Prashanth Reddy instructed officials to issue work agreements to contractors before December 15 and to begin construction as soon as possible. Periodical Renewal works, including repairing damaged culverts, would be undertaken with these funds.
District Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers were instructed to take up work constituency by constituency. He said the work would be carried out in coordination with the local MLAs.
Last month, the CM directed the department to take up road repair works in rural areas on a war footing. CM asked engineers to shed traditional methods and adopt dynamic methods for effective functioning as well as execution of works.
Across nine circles in the state, the department has identified 4,359 km of road networks that require periodic maintenance, and 308 flood-damaged roads, including culvert repairs. 675 periodical renewal works would cost Rs 1,835 crore, while 308 FDR works would cost Rs 558 crore.
