Centre to Opt out Aadhaar: Is it BJP Trick for Votes?
Linking Aadhaar card with bank account, pan card, and SIM cards made everyone worried as there is a high risk of leaking the information which creates a lot of troubles.
Supreme Court in September had struck down the private entities from using Unique Identification (UID) Number for verification.
Now, Union Government is working on the proposal to amend the Aadhaar Act which allows citizens to withdraw their Aadhaar number, including bio-metrics and data.
The apex court had already declared that linking Aadhaar with bank account or PAN cards and SIM cards is illegal.
According to sources in UIDAI, UG is planning a proposal in which once a child turns 18, he or she will be given six months time to withdraw their UID and all biometric data.
The Law Ministry is examining the proposal and will let people know about its decision in a few days. This proposal has more chances to go to the Cabinet for approval.
This decision will definitely be a relief to people who feel there are privacy issues in linking Aadhaar card with everything.
This might be the BJP trick to make voters vote for them, but people will definitely be relaxed and happy, if this Act comes into existence.
