Dark mode will be the norm on Twitter: Musk
As Twitter changes its name to X, its owner Elon Musk said on Friday that the site will use dark mode by default and that "dim will be deleted."
Musk said on Thursday that "dark mode" will soon be the "only" option on the platform because "it is better in every way."
Many people told Musk what they thought about his choice. One person said, "Please don't get rid of dim," while another said, "I actually like dim better than dark mode because it has a bit more depth."
When a user shared a picture of Musk's new X app, which is a financial app, Musk answered, "The goal of my companies is simply to be as useful as possible, never to kill the competition."
"Competing to serve the people is a good thing," he said.
Musk started teasing that Twitter would be renamed X on Sunday with a series of tweets, the first of which said, "Soon we will say goodbye to the Twitter brand and, slowly, all the birds."
On Monday, the X symbol took the place of the blue bird on Twitter's website.
The company also changed the image and name on its Android app, which was updated. Musk said on Tuesday, "X Corp bought Twitter both to protect freedom of speech and to speed up the development of X, the app for everything." It's not just a company changing its name, but it's still doing the same thing."
"The name Twitter made sense when you could only send 140-character messages back and forth, like birds tweeting. But now you can post almost anything, including several hours of video."
He also said that in the coming months, the company will add full messaging and the power to run the "entire financial world." This week, people were seen taking letters off of Twitter's famous vertical sign at the company's offices. The cops, though, stopped the work.
