Indian Passport Holders Enjoy Visa-Free Travel to 62 Countries, According to Henley Passport Index
The latest Henley Passport Index reveals that individuals holding an Indian passport can now explore 62 countries without the need for a visa. Although India's overall ranking has remained unchanged at 80th globally, the significant increase in the number of visa-free destinations, up from 57, is a noteworthy development.
The Henley Passport Index, recognized as a leading interactive online tool for passport rankings worldwide, relies on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). It serves as a reliable indicator of global mobility, reflecting the diplomatic influence and accessibility of passports across nations.
Indian passport holders can now journey to various countries, including Angola, Bhutan, Cambodia, Jamaica, Malaysia, Nepal, Oman, Thailand, and Tunisia, without the hassle of obtaining a visa.
Notably, this year's list designates six nations with the most influential passports. France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain all hold this coveted status, granting their citizens access to 194 countries without visa requirements. In contrast, Afghanistan holds the lowest position, offering visa-free access to just 28 countries. Syria and Iraq closely follow with 29 and 31 visa-free destinations, respectively. Pakistan rounds out the quartet with access to only 34 countries without a visa.
This ranking sheds light on the ever-evolving landscape of global travel and the privilege enjoyed by passport holders from different nations.
