Jishnu Dev Varma Appointed as New Governor of Telangana; Radhakrishnan Moves to Maharashtra
In a significant reshuffle, the President of India appointed Jishnu Dev Varma as the Governor of Telangana. Previously the Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura and a senior BJP leader, Varma’s new role marks a pivotal change in the state’s leadership.
Concurrently, CP Radhakrishnan, who held additional charge of Telangana along with Jharkhand, has been appointed Governor of Maharashtra. This move is part of a broader gubernatorial reshuffle, which saw Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde appointed as Governor of Rajasthan and Om Prakash Mathur as Governor of Sikkim. Additional appointments include Santosh Kumar Gangwar as Governor of Jharkhand and Ramen Deka as Governor of Chhattisgarh.
C. H. Vijayashankar will now serve as the Governor of Meghalaya, while Gulab Chand Kataria, currently Governor of Assam, has been appointed Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Furthermore, Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has been reassigned as Governor of Assam with additional charge as Governor of Manipur. These appointments reflect strategic placements aimed at bolstering the administrative framework across various states.
