Andhra Pradesh Government introduced the 'Kapu Reservations' bill in the State Assembly earlier today. BC Welfare Minister, Achham Naidu introduced the bill which prospects 5% quota for the community in Jobs and Educational Opportunities. The bill will be taken up for discussion in the assembly tomorrow.
We all know that Parliament recently passed a bill giving 10% reservation to the Economically Backward Sections in the upper castes having an annual income of fewer than 8 lakhs. The bill derives provision for the State Governments to modify according to the people of the state for further implementations.
Looking at this State Government of AP decided to fix 5% quota in the total 10% Economic Backward Class. Opposition party leaders and economists think that this bill cannot be applicable and are questioning the area of applicability. They are terming this act to be as a political stunt.
They said that even though bill passes in the Assembly it is tough to be approved by the Supreme Court. But the government is looking undeterred to the issues and is looking to pass the bill.
