KCR links liberation fight to Telangana agitation
At the 'Swatantra Bharat Vajrotsavalu' closing ceremony on Friday, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao compared the fight for Indian independence to the movement for an independent Telangana.
Speaking at the event, KCR said that those who had opposed the creation of Telangana and advocated for united rule during the Telangana agitation were now attempting to use the 'Telangana movement' to make political points. According to KCR, the Telangana agitation was conducted peacefully. He said that, much as during the Telangana movement, there were groups who thought there was no need for independence from British control and that it would be difficult to oppose them.
They had boastfully claimed that Telangana was unnecessary and that unitary governance was beneficial. They made every effort to deceive the populace. Before we committed, their attempts were unsuccessful. The irony is that the same individuals were now discussing the Telangana agitation and attempting to impart wisdom on a party that had actually brought about the creation of a separate state. He said that the agitation and the BRS government's leadership both provided motivation. Telangana, according to the Chief Minister, has served as an example for the nation. It was able to end the agricultural crisis in only nine short years. Rythu Bandhu-style programmes has improved the quality of life for farmers. Rural professions were promoted, villages prospered, and we have come a long way towards Gramme Swaraj and village self-sufficiency, he remarked.
