MLC Polls on March 12
The Election Commission of India announced that MLC elections will be held on March 12th in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Five MLC seats in both Telugu states will be filled by MLA votes. In Telangana, MLCs Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Thiruvaragarm Santosh Kumar, Mohammed Saleem, and Mohammed Mahmood Ali will retire on March 29th.
In Andhra Pradesh, Ponguru Narayana, Lakshmi Siva Kumari Anguri, Pamidi Samanthakamani, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Appa Rao Adireddy will retire on the same day.
Yanamala Rarmakrishnudu holds the finance portfolio while Narayana is the municipal administration minister. These two candidates should be re-elected to continue in the cabinet.
Also, the election code comes into effect in AP and Telangana, after biennial elections notification was released by the Election Commission of India.
This effect makes the AP government to not launch any new welfare schemes or development programmes.
