Nara Lokesh Envisions Andhra Pradesh as a Leader in Education
Nara Lokesh, Minister for Human Resources Development, Information Technology, and Electronics, made a bold statement on Thursday expressing his commitment to making Andhra Pradesh a frontrunner in India’s education sector. Lokesh made these remarks during the International Higher Education Fair (IHEF) at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), an event held in partnership with VIT and the Andhra Pradesh government.
Addressing the crowd, Lokesh urged young people to aspire to be job creators rather than job seekers. To set an example, he flagged off a self-driving van, a drone, and a robot at the event, showcasing the potential of emerging technology. He encouraged the youth to explore startup opportunities and leverage the resources of the AP Innovation Society, which has allocated a seed fund of Rs 250 crore to support budding entrepreneurs.
Lokesh emphasized the State’s vision for an education system that builds skills and instills strong moral values. Sharing his own journey, he mentioned his experience working with the World Bank after completing an MBA from Stanford, highlighting that even successful careers face challenges.
The Minister also pointed to the ongoing development in Amaravathi, noting the capital city’s rapid growth and increased job opportunities. He hoped Andhra Pradesh’s youth would seize these opportunities, stay innovative, and aim for global standards.
Dr. G Viswanathan, Chancellor of VIT-AP, and Dr. SV Kota Reddy, Vice Chancellor, along with other dignitaries, attended the event. Dr. Viswanathan underscored the need for a higher budget allocation for education in India to support such ambitions.
