Nara Lokesh Highlights Importance of Skill Census Survey in Boosting Youth Employment
Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh on Friday stressed the importance of the skill census survey initiated by the TDP government, viewing it as a key initiative to improve employment opportunities for the state's youth. During a review meeting with Skill Development officials at his residence in Undavalli, Lokesh emphasized that the survey must be conducted diligently and not be treated as a mere formality.
Lokesh detailed the state government’s plans to create comprehensive resumes for young people, incorporating their academic qualifications, current employment status, and skill profiles. This information will be shared with company managements, facilitating the direct recruitment of candidates with the desired skills. He urged officials to regularly update the academic and skill data of the youth while advising them to avoid raising unnecessary questions that could cause public misunderstandings.
“The ultimate goal of the skill census survey is to create employment for the youth, and all efforts should be directed towards achieving that objective,” Lokesh stated.
He also suggested that officials seek input from industry experts and job portal professionals to fine-tune the skill census process. Once the data collection is complete, the government plans to implement strategies to further develop the skills of the youth.
Addressing the broader issue of employment, Minister Lokesh pointed out that while many young people struggle to find job opportunities, companies often face difficulties in finding qualified candidates. He emphasized that the skill census is crucial in bridging this gap.
In addition, Lokesh discussed the development of an app to support the skill census and instructed officials to make necessary updates and improvements.
Key officials, including Principal Secretary (IT) Sourabh Kour, Higher Education Incharge Chairman Ram Mohan Rao, and Skill Development Managing Director Gummala Ganesh Kumar, attended the meeting. The Minister also directed officials to resolve legal issues hindering the appointment of teachers in various universities and to work strategically on improving the rankings of the state's universities.
