Son of Telangana Tribal Farmer Earns PhD in US and Lands Rs. 1 Crore Job
Maloth Thirupathi, the elder son of an illiterate tribal farmer and a homemaker from the remote Gudipet village in Mancherial district, has become an inspiration to young tribal people in the region. He earned a PhD in civil engineering from Johns Hopkins University in the United States and secured a job with a salary of Rs. 1 crore per year.
Thirupathi received his PhD from Johns Hopkins University, one of the top universities in the US, and graduated during a ceremony on campus on Tuesday. The next day, he was hired as a research manager at Third Waves Systems, a leading US research firm, with an annual salary of Rs. 1 crore.
"We are illiterate, but our son achieved something beyond our dreams. We are proud of him and his academic achievements. We were thrilled to learn that he was offered a high-paid job in America. His accomplishment will inspire youngsters in our village and district," said his parents, Ramchandar and Shakuntala.
The 28-year-old Thirupathi attended school at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya-Kaghaznagar in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district and completed his Intermediate studies at a private junior college in Warangal. He then earned a degree in aeronautical engineering from IIT-Mumbai and an M Tech from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. He moved to the USA for higher studies in 2017 and achieved his academic goals with great success.
"He plans to come back to India after working in the USA for some time and wants to continue his career in research. He has been a bright student since childhood. His achievement has cheered the residents of our village and our community," said Thirupathi's brother, Dilip.
