Telangana Junior Doctors' Strike Continues for Seventh Day
The strike by junior doctors and senior residents in Telangana's government teaching hospitals has entered its seventh day, significantly disrupting healthcare services. The strike, initiated to demand justice for a trainee doctor in Kolkata and the implementation of a Central Protection Act, has seen medicos employing various protest methods to raise awareness.
On Wednesday, members of the Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA) used the Hyderabad Metro to interact with commuters and inform them about the need for enhanced security in government hospitals and justice for their Kolkata colleague. They also staged protests at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Punjagutta.
The previous day, junior doctors from Gandhi Hospital, NIMS, Niloufer Hospital, Chest Hospital, and Maternity Hospitals combined their efforts for a protest at Osmania Medical College. They later held a silent protest at the Ambedkar Statue at Tank Bund. The ongoing strike continues to impact healthcare services across the state as doctors advocate for their demands.
