The dream of CM KCR comes true: SRSP gets water for Kaleshwaram
Farmers in the Sriram Sagar Project ayacut started to celebrate when water gushed out of the Mupkal pump house pipe system and into the reservoir on Friday evening.
A lot of them went to the project site, where chants praised Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and his story of re-engineering tests that finished that day.
The water in the reservoir got there after traveling upstream for more than 300 km, helped by the reverse pumping network of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation system. This is the result of a huge amount of work done by Irrigation experts over many years.
At first, the net revenue at the SRSP end would be around 0.25 TMC per day. Officials in charge of watering say that the amount will likely be raised in stages as needed. So far, the machines have only been running during the day.
