Trump Extends Diwali Wishes, Promises to Defend Hindu Americans and Strengthen Ties with India
In a Diwali message on Thursday, former President Donald Trump expressed his support for Hindu Americans, pledging to stand up for their interests against what he described as the “anti-religion agenda of the radical left.” He promised to protect their freedoms and strengthen ties with India, a nation he regards as a close ally.
Sharing his thoughts on X, Trump stated, “We will ensure Hindu Americans are shielded from the radical left’s anti-religion agenda and fight for your freedom. Under my administration, we’ll also reinforce our partnership with India and my good friend, Prime Minister Modi.”
In addition, Trump voiced concern over reports of violence against religious minorities in Bangladesh following the political upheaval after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation on August 5. He condemned the attacks on Hindus and Christians, decrying the state of unrest that followed the controversial decision regarding job quotas. “I strongly denounce the brutal attacks on Hindus, Christians, and others who are facing violence in the current chaos in Bangladesh,” he said.
This marked Trump’s first response to the crisis in Bangladesh, where reports have indicated significant casualties among Hindus in recent protests. Contrasting his approach with that of the current administration, he criticized President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for what he described as their disregard for Hindu communities worldwide and within the U.S., asserting, “This would have never happened on my watch. Joe and Kamala have ignored the plight of Hindus, both globally and domestically.”
He went on to critique their handling of various issues, from the southern border to conflicts abroad, before reiterating his intention to “Make America Strong Again” through a strategy he described as “Peace through Strength.”
As he concluded his message, Trump wished everyone a Happy Diwali, hoping the Festival of Lights would “lead to the Victory of Good over Evil,” underscoring his commitment to a strong, resilient America.
