US Citizenship Act 2023 eliminates Green Card nation quota.
The Democratic Party, in power in the US, has put forward a Citizenship Act. This will get rid of the country limit for green cards and make changes to the H-1B visa system, which is very popular. The US Citizenship Act is built on three main ideas: effective and responsible border management, economic growth and a stronger labour force, and bringing families back together.
People who have lived in the US for years, and in some cases decades, can legally keep their families together and get the security and safety of US citizenship. The bill gives undocumented noncitizens a path to citizenship by letting them apply for temporary legal status (called "Lawful Prospective Immigrant Status"). After five years, if they pass criminal and national security background checks and pay taxes, they can apply for lawful permanent residence (also called a "green card"). Dreamers, people with Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and farm workers who meet certain criteria will be able to get green cards right away. Spouses and children who are eligible are also included.
The measure allows U.S. citizens and permanent residents in binational same-sex partnerships to sponsor their permanent partners for admission to the U.S. count as qualifying relatives for other immigration benefits and purposes. The bill also gives automatic citizenship to children with at least one U.S. citizen parent, no matter how they relate to that person biologically.
Protects children, widows, and orphans and gives stepchildren the same rights.
The bill expands current protections to ensure that a sponsor's death doesn't stop an immigrant from getting the benefit in question. It also ensures that the children of U.S. citizens' fiancés don't age out of the visa application and green card processes. It gives stepchildren the same chance as biological children to qualify as "immediate relatives" as long as they were under 21 when their parents married.
Congresswoman Sanchez said, "As the daughter of Mexican immigrants, it is an honour for me to introduce the US Citizenship Act. It is a bold, transformative plan to help fix our broken immigration system."
Hakeem Jeffries, the leader of the Democrats, called for a change to how immigration laws work. He talked about how foreigners have helped make America what it is today.
The United States of America has a defective immigration system that calls for a comprehensive solution that takes into account American ideals. One is a country based on the rule of law but also a country of immigrants. People come from all over the world to make America the beautiful mosaic it is, and America's variety is and should remain the envy of the rest of the world.
